March squad: the Life Guards and a chevau-léger

IV. March

Meissen March

Superb guns, an empty treasury

One of the finest artillery arms of the age: its guns, quick-firers included, take 20% less time to reload and hit 15% harder. The chevau-légers ride cheaper Polish horses, and the Life Guards hold their fire to the last moment and hit charging cavalry hard. The Electorate’s treasury, on the other hand, is empty.

Treasury
15% less gold from Headquarters, mints and settlements
Music
An Aufzug for the Dresden court trumpeters, Hasse’s overture to “Arminio”, a chorus from a Bach cantata, a polonaise by Hasse and a concerto by Telemann
Voices
German, with the wagon driver in Saxon dialect; the uhlans speak Polish

    Loyal Deserters

Pick enemy infantry: up to two regular infantry units in the circle come over to your side with whatever strength they have left. Guards, cavalry and guns stay loyal. The deserters take up no command points, and a miss does not use up the charge.

After Pirna (1756), of the roughly 18,500 Saxons forced into the Prussian army only about 5,000 were left a month later. The rest went back to their own side.
